Free App Alert: Yuckies

If your child just could not fathom the need and health reasons of keeping themselves and their surroundings tidy then consider this new released app for the ipad which is out now for FREE. Hopefully they'll learn to stay away from the The YUCKIES.

This is the first story in a fun and imaginative digital children’s book series, which uses muck, goop and mischief to tell an environmental story. Developed for 6-8 year olds, the stories have broader appeal for primary school aged children and offer ‘read to me’ and ‘read by myself’ options. Here are some yucky facts:
- Original hand-drawn illustrations
- Australian made and voiced
- Fun sound effects
- Educational and environmental
- Series of 5 stories – first 2 out now

The read to me option I liked most. But be WARNED as it may be scary for younger kids with the thrilling background sound and creepy voices. So better try it first so you can gauge whether your child can deal as it is nightmare-worthy.

The illustrations are impressive and effective in conveying the fact that the YUCKIES are indeed sneaky, disgusting and harmful.

The Yuckies encourages parents and children to discuss, apart from personal hygiene, the importance of being environmentally responsible. And so far, this is the only literary book I've read that touches on that matter.

So try it and download the first of the series while its FREE at iTunes. Succeeding books only cost $2.99.
