Joni started this diary 2006 to document what she thought was a brief affair with Melbourne. 6 years on, it transformed into a travel log, cooking demo page and how-tos portal. And more importantly, into a testament of her life & pursuits as a stay at home mum, a partner, a migrant and a woman.
Anya is Joni's only child and born with Spina Bifida. Her spirited personality fuels this space and her tales of living with a disability are shared with hopes to inform and inspire. Anya travels in a wheelchair and walks with leg braces and a pair of crutches.
In 2011, the The Diary of Joni & Anya became PR-friendly & open to product reviews & sponsored posts relevant to their lifestyle. Pet Care and Issues are also featured since the arrival of Dali the cavoodle.

What is Spina Bifida?
Spina bifida is one of a class of birth defects, called neural tube defects. These defects involve damage to the spine and spinal cord. Some vertebrae of the spine don't close properly during pregnancy and the spinal cord's nerves are exposed and damaged. The vitamin folate (folic acid) can prevent up to 70 per cent of spina bifida cases, if taken daily one month before conception and daily during the first three months of pregnancy. (read more)
